Ancient Egypt, scribal palette reproduction, with red and black inks.  Made from a  piece of maple,  which was ripped into three  pieces, and then glued back  together after the storage cavity was cut from the middle board. Then, inkwells were carved into the middle piece.  Black ink is lamp black; red ink is Ercolano Red (red ocher), from northern Italy.
